I’ve posted the photos I took at this past Saturday’s UWHL All-Star Game, played for the first time at the Wachovia Center, to Flickr. Congratulations to Steph Geiger (#5 Orange) and Debbie Lamparter (#52 Black) from the Blue team, and to Meghan Gallagher (#24 Orange) from the White team, for being chosen as all-stars.
While we may have lost 2-1 to the pink-clad Chicks with Sticks from Kennett Square, we had a great game! The Indy team had quite a day.
DK finally let loose her amazing shot and scored. Yergey had a great game in goal (I think you should warm up with your superman cape on more often). Greta received a penalty for knocking a show-off on her butt. Jill scored a goal, which the referee seemed to have missed, so it didn’t count, but we know the truth….. We even pulled our goalie at the end, which always makes me nervous, but in a good way. Most importantly, we had fun! And we learned a few things.
One thing I learned: it is so much fun to have fans! We had a whole section cheering us on. You guys rocked!!!! Thanks to everyone for coming out to watch us play!
In my opinion, the score does not reflect the efforts of Grace Oshode, the goalie for the Freeze White division team. We lost 0-6 against the Black Widows yesterday. There were 31 shots on goal recorded, and I would bet there were actually more than that. My favorite move had to be the one where the puck flipped over Grace’s head, rolled down her back, into her hockey pants, and she flopped over (on the SAFE side of the goal line, thank god!) to make the save. Nice work! Now if we could only produce some offense….
The coaches worked really hard to set the UWHL White and Blue teams’ roster. It looks like they succeeded and each team has 15 full time skaters plus goalie with a few players opting for part-time status. Rosters will be posted on this site by team reps in the next few days.
The Indy team ended up with 14 skaters plus a goalie this year. Awesome! Most are returning players so we will have the opportunity to do some more advanced drills and try some new hockey plays during the games. If only we had players that could skate backwards . . . More to come.
The 2009-2010 game and practice schedules are up! You can find them in the sidebar.
Howdy!
We’re in the process of updating the Freeze website. In the meantime, practices for the 2009-2010 season have started; if you’re interested in joining the team, shoot us an e-mail.
Schedules, photos, and news coming soon.
